The role

As an NLP engineer at Definely, you will play a pivotal role in building our natural language processing, understanding and generative capabilities for the legal industry by creating groundbreaking products designed for every phase of the contract document lifecycle, with a mission to enhance accessibility and efficiency in legal documents.

Your roles and responsibilities include the following:

  • Develop and implement Natural Language Processing (NLP) algorithms and models using Python.
  • Utilize and enhance Language Model (LLM) techniques to optimize document analysis and comprehension.
  • Implement Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) methods for enhanced search and summarization of legal documents.
  • Manage and work with vector databases for efficient storage and retrieval of document representations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams of engineers, lawyers, and product managers to design and deliver robust, scalable NLP solutions.
  • Enhance existing NLP pipelines, algorithms, and systems for improved performance and accuracy.
  • Research, evaluate, and implement state-of-the-art NLP methodologies to drive innovation in our products.
  • Leverage API experience to develop and maintain interfaces for seamless integration of NLP functionalities.
  • Explore, document, analyse, aggregate, label, clean, transform and manipulate datasets
  • Improve our existing language-related models recall, precisions and other related-KPIs
  • Create new language models for existing products and use cases as well as new ones
  • Augment our data to train models to handle even more cases
  • Help us develop and execute our innovation strategy

About you

  • Experience in NLP development and implementation, with a focus on Python.
  • Experience in utilizing Language Model (LLM) and Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) techniques.
  • Hands-on experience working with vector databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.
  • Strong understanding of API development and integration within NLP systems (preferred).
  • Experience in designing and implementing NLP algorithms and models in real-world applications.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
  • Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Linguistics and/or Text Mining Degree.
  • Strong Quantitative background is a plus.
  • Experience with PyTorch/Tensorflow.
  • Experience with spaCy and/or other NLP tools such as Gensim/NLTK is a must.
  • Experience with either AWS/Azure/GCP or More than one is a plus.
  • The ability to read and perform reproducible research is a plus.
